About Us
The “Little India” area of Chicago is one of the most densely populated and diverse neighborhoods in America. We have over 20,000 people living within every square mile of our community, and nearly half of these were born outside of the United States. Many of these beautiful people are refugees! At Devon Oasis, we welcome all people in the name of Christ, regardless of their ethnicity or religious background; we provide multiple free services and tangible assistance to help our new neighbors begin their lives in America. In addition, we assist refugees living in other American cities.
Devon Oasis is an innovative ministry of the Missionary Church, and is directed by Dr. Robert Andrews. Dr. Andrews and his wife Lynne have raised all four of their sons in Chicago’s “Little India”, and have served the neighborhood's international population for over 30 years. Bob is an ordained minister with the Missionary Church, and has successfully earned a doctorate (Ph.D. in Constructive Theology from Loyola University Chicago), as well as two Masters degrees (M.Div. - Moody Seminary, M.A. - Loyola University). In 2014, Bob and Lynne were honored by World Relief with the Jerry T. Comer Award for their constant care for refugees and other vulnerable people in the city of Chicago. Dozens of people from local colleges and universities, as well as others from the neighborhood, serve the community weekly through Devon Oasis.
Devon Oasis Center is located in the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago, on the south east corner of Devon and Western Ave. (6355 N. Western Ave.), next to Masjid Dar-Ut-Taweed.
